In this workshop, participants are invited to experience dance as a living conversation between sound and motion. Explore how musical ideas can transform into movement prompts—and how physical expression can, in turn, shape our understanding of sound.
No dance or music experience is required—only curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore.
Join us for an unforgettable evening of music as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents a spectacular concert to close the day. Led by VSO Resident Conductor Trevor Wilson, the orchestra will deliver a dynamic and engaging program alongside Future of Excellence winner Percussionist Valerie Lin. The performance will feature the fiery “Ritual Fire Dance” from Falla’s El amor brujo, followed by Séjourné’s vibrant Concerto for Marimba & String Orchestra, showcasing Lin’s remarkable artistry. Audiences will also experience the stirring power of Sibelius’s Finlandia and the evocative beauty of Holmés’s Ludus pro patria: La nuit et l’amour. The evening continues with Beethoven’s spirited Scherzo from Symphony No. 3 “Eroica,” culminating in the iconic grandeur of John Williams’s Star Wars Suite for Orchestra, featuring the triumphant “Throne Room and End Title.”
