Amber Tsang and Alvin Brendan are two young up-and-coming jazz musicians based in Vancouver, B.C. Despite their youth, they have shown a lot of promise as they emerge into the Vancouver jazz scene. When first discovering the world of Vancouver jazz, the number of Asian-Canadian performers they looked up to was minimal. Amber and Alvin hope that they can be a part of that change and inspire those who have felt the same. As a duo, their distinctive styles compliment each other while also highlighting their own individual talents. This project combines their love of the art of performing tin pan alley songs as well as exploring new musical avenues through collective improvisation. Their arrangements aim to breathe new life into the timeless jazz standard canon and the American Songbook.
