Our programme features three contrasting works, beginning with music by Cui – his music exemplifies romantic melodicism. Schmitt’s Sonatine en Trio unfolds as a charming conversation between the instruments, a haunting waltz, a melancholy adagio, and a rousing folk dance as the finale. Lastly, Connesson’s Techno-Parade seeks to emulate the relentless sense of pulse in the Techno-EDM genres; treating each instrument like a machine, achieving a fascinating sound that is atypical of this ensemble.
