13 Moons: West is a remarkable work by composer Jodie Blackshaw. As a “composing piece,” it invites members of the ensemble to interpret, organize, and communicate raw material provided by the composer. The piece is inspired by indigenous moon stories that celebrate the wonder of nature, the changing seasons, and the interconnectivity of all things in our universe. Our student performers collaboratively created and curated our setting of 13 Moons: West.
